PGxAI Andromeda MCP server: documentation

For IT administrators and security reviewers who decide whether to approve the server, and developers connecting to it.

What it is

PGxAI Andromeda is a remote MCP server operated by PGxAI Inc. It looks up what published drug labeling and other sources say about drug-drug interactions, gene-drug (pharmacogenomic) guidance and drug-disease information, and returns the findings with source links. It is an educational and research reference, not medical advice and not a tool for treatment decisions.

What it can and cannot do

  • Two tools, both read-only: review_medication_evidence (the lookup) and get_condition_category (maps a disease or population term to the exact name the lookup accepts).
  • It does not write, change or delete anything, does not send messages, does not browse the web on the user's behalf and has no access to the user's files, accounts or other tools.
  • No account, sign-in or API key is needed to use it.
  • It returns findings and source links only. Dosing or treatment advice is outside its scope.

What the tools accept

  • drugs: medication names (generic or brand, English) or RxNorm identifiers.
  • conditions: closed vocabulary only: exact names returned by get_condition_category, an age written as "age 72", or male / female. Free text is not accepted.
  • genes: a gene symbol with an interpreted star-allele genotype (for example *1/*3) or an explicitly supplied metabolizer phenotype. Raw sequencing data, VCF files and rsIDs are not accepted.

Data handling

  • Inputs are used to look up published reference information and are returned to the AI assistant that called the tool. They are not sent to external reference, analytics or AI services.
  • Lookup inputs and results are processed for the duration of the request and are not stored in a server-side history, database or cache. Request and diagnostic logs are not retained.
  • Connections use HTTPS.
  • The AI assistant the user works in (for example ChatGPT or Claude) may retain the conversation under its own provider's terms and settings. PGxAI does not control that.
  • Details and contact: the Privacy Policy at https://pgx.ai/andromeda/privacy and the Terms of Service at https://pgx.ai/andromeda/terms.

Protection against personal information in requests

Users are told not to enter personal information, and the server also checks lookup inputs before processing them.

  • Fixed input schema: unknown fields are rejected, and conditions, RxNorm codes and genotypes use closed vocabularies or strict formats instead of free text.
  • Pattern checks reject values that look like names, addresses, dates, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, IP addresses and similar identifiers, and a name-recognition model screens drug and gene fields.
  • Ages above 89 are reported as "90 or older" before leaving the server.
  • Request content is not written to logs.

The filter was developed on the basis of the HIPAA Safe Harbor standard for de-identifying protected health information (the identifier list in 45 CFR 164.514(b)(2)). We measured it on a 646-case synthetic test set that we wrote and that covers each identifier category: 98.6 percent recall overall, with no false positives on 291 ordinary clinical strings. It is one layer of protection and cannot catch every identifier (for example unusual names or a bare number with no label), so users should not submit personal information.

Security and support

Educational reference, not medical advice. Do not enter personal information.
